Harvest 2018

We had wonderful Harvest services today plus the opportunity to have a church lunch together. The displays were great with all donated food going to Save The Family charity. Special thanks to Sandbank Bakery – Denbigh for the kind donation of the Wheat-sheaf Loaf.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes 2018

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes 2018

It is that time of year again where we collect items and fill shoeboxes to be sent to children in need across the world.
A small shoebox can have a big impact. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal. Be a part of changing children’s lives all over the world through the power of a simple gift with Operation Christmas Child.
The collection box for gifts is now in the foyer at Church and ready to be filled with your kind donations. For safety reasons there are strict rules on what can, and what unfortunately cannot, go into the shoeboxes.
Gift suggestions
Toys: Include items that children will immediately embrace such as dolls or stuffed toys (with CE label), toy trucks, harmonica, yo-yo, skipping rope, ball, small puzzles etc.

School Supplies: Pens, pencils & sharpeners, crayons or felt pens, stamps & ink pad sets, writing pads or notebooks & paper, solar calculators, colouring & picture books etc.

Hygiene Items: Toothbrush and toothpaste, bars of wrapped soap, comb or hairbrush, flannel. Please note: 2018 will be the last year that toothpaste can be included, due to increasing customs regulations.

Other Items: Hat, cap, gloves or scarf, sunglasses, hair accessories, jewellery set, wind up torch, wrapped sweets (best-before-date must be at least March of the following year). Please note: 2018 will be the last year that sweets can be included, due to increasing customs regulations.

Do Not Include: Used or damaged items, war related items such as toy guns, play soldiers or knives; chocolate or other food items; liquids or lotions of any type including bubbles; medicines; hand-made or knitted stuffed toys; anything of a political, racial or religious nature; sharp objects; glass containers, mirrors or fragile items; playing cards of the 4-suit variety; clothing other than as listed above.

Operation Christmas Child ask for a suggested donation of £5 for each shoebox. This goes towards collection costs, processing, shipping and distribution to countries all across the world. Donations can be handed to Andy & Sandra Smith or alternatively donations can be made online (Operation Christmas Child) where you print off a barcode, insert it into your packed shoebox and then track your shoebox on it’s travels!

Shoeboxes will be packed during the morning service on Sunday 18th November 2018 in our Church Hall.

*** NEW FOR 2018 *** Operation Christmas Child will be collecting all the shoeboxes from St Thomas’s Church so we are not limited to how many shoeboxes we can pack or receive. If you want to pre-pack a shoebox we are open for receiving them between 10am – 12noon on Sunday 18th November 2018. If you would like to drop off your shoeboxes at an alternative time (but no later than 18/11/18) then please Contact Us.

Let’s make 2018 our best year yet and send as many gifts of joy to children all across the world this Christmas!
